1. Export a WhatsApp chat

Open WhatsApp and go into the chat you want roasted.
Tap the contact or group name at the top of the chat.
Scroll down and tap Export Chat.
Choose Without Media. Roastclub only reads the text, and the file is much smaller.
In the share sheet, pick Roastclub. Don't see it? Tap More, or choose Save to Files, then open Roastclub, tap Roast my group or Roast my situationship, then Export file, and pick the saved file.

WhatsApp exports a .zip (or a .txt). Either works; you don't need to unzip it.

2. Export a Telegram chat

Roastclub reads the result.json file made by Telegram Desktop (the computer app for Mac, Windows or Linux).

Open the chat in Telegram Desktop.
Open the chat's ⋮ (more) menu and choose Export chat history.
Untick photos, videos and other media.
Set Format to Machine-readable JSON, then tap Export.
Move result.json to your iPhone (AirDrop, iCloud Drive or Files).
In Roastclub, pick your roast type, tap Export file and choose result.json.

3. Error messages and fixes

You see	What it means and what to do
We couldn't read that file	The file isn't a chat export Roastclub understands. Export the chat again and choose Without Media. Roastclub reads WhatsApp `.txt` and `.zip` exports and Telegram Desktop's `.json`.
This chat is too dry to roast	The chat has fewer than 50 text messages. Pick a busier chat.
That's a group chat / That's not a two-person chat	A situationship roast needs exactly two people who both talk. Use Roast my group for groups.
Pick which one is you	A two-person roast needs to know which side is you. Go back and pick your name.
The roast needs a connection	Your stats are ready, but writing the jokes needs the internet. Connect and try again.
The roast is taking too long	Our AI took too long to answer. Try again in a moment.
Too many roasts at once / Too many roasts for now / You've hit today's roast limit	You've reached a fair-use limit. The message tells you how long to wait. Pro allows up to 40 roasts a day.
Free roast used	Each device gets one free roast. Roastclub Pro unlocks more.
Free roasts are paused	Free roasts are paused for everyone for the rest of the day (UTC). Your free roast is still waiting; try again tomorrow.
That one got flagged	The roast didn't pass our safety check. Try again for a fresh one.
We couldn't verify this device	Roastclub uses Apple's App Attest to check it is talking to the genuine app. Restart the app and try again later. If it keeps happening, email us your iPhone model and iOS version.
We couldn't roast that chat	Start over with another chat. If it keeps happening with a chat that looks normal, email us (don't attach the chat).
Our side broke / Roasting is temporarily unavailable / Something went wrong	A problem on our server. Try again later. If it lasts more than a few hours, email us.

4. Restore purchases

Bought Pro on another iPhone, or reinstalled the app?

Make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you paid with.
Open Roastclub and tap Get Pro at the top right of the home screen.
Tap Restore at the bottom of the screen.

Roastclub has no account, so your purchase is tied to your Apple Account, not to a login. If Restore doesn't unlock Pro, email us with the order ID from your Apple receipt.

5. Cancel a subscription

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, so cancel them on your iPhone:

Open Settings.
Tap your name at the top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Tap Roastclub Pro, then Cancel Subscription.

Or open apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge; Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

6. Free, Pro and limits

Free: your first roast shows one card, with a watermark.
Roastclub Pro (weekly, or yearly with a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers): the full deck without watermarks and up to 40 roasts a day.
Prices are shown in the app before you buy and can vary by country.

7. Privacy

Your full chat never leaves your phone. To write the jokes, Roastclub sends a small digest (stats and a few short lines, with member names replaced), which is not stored. Please never email us a chat export; we don't need it to help you. Details are in the Privacy Policy, including how to ask us to delete your data.
